| Overview: | The National AIDS Memorial Grove (NAMG) is a living memorial in San Francisco, CA, to remember and honor those who have died of AIDS, those who are living with AIDS/HIV, and those who have lost friends and family to this disease, by creating a memorial for healing and remembrance. The group has transformed an abandoned seven acre parksite in Golden Gate Park into a botanical area which serves a variety of community and artistic uses. The group has also sought to develop vehicles to fund maintenance of the previously neglected space in perpetuity. The success of the project is due in part to the cooperative efforts of public and private citizens, agencies and government bodies. |
