| Overview: | Formed in 1983, the nonprofit Parkside Historic Preservation Corporation aimed to reverse the deterioration the Parkside Historic District of Philadelphia, home to many once prestigious, architecturally unique Victorian buildings and mansions. Parkside had become physically devastated in the years following World War II. The restoration has provided high quality housing to a mix of residents, and space for daycare programs and other kinds of multigenerational community support. The Parkside program has preserved Philadelphia's architectural heritage while providing programming and housing critical to the local community. |
