| Title: | Artist Relocation Program; |
| Short Title: | Artist Relocation Program |
| Overview: | Paducah's Artist Relocation Program aims to encourage artists from across the country to relocate to the Lower Town neighborhood of Paducah. The City provides incentives for artist relocation, including historic homes offered at affordable rates, as well as restoration funding obtainable from a local bank that would enable these artists to restore the houses. The Artist Relocation Program contributes to the revitalization of a blighted historic neighborhood, strengthens the creative economy of Paducah, and creates a renewed residential community in the downtown. The Selection Committee commended the Artist Relocation Program for introducing an innovative strategy to revitalize an historic neighborhood, while strengthening an important economic sector in Paducah. The Committee felt this program to be innovative approach to community revitalization, a model that could be adapted to other settings and populations. |
