| Overview: | The Community Chalkboard & Podium was cited by the Bruner Committee as an enduring and interactive monument to the concept of free expression. The Community Chalkboard & Podium consists of a two-sided wall of Buckingham slate where members of the public can express their views, in chalk, on any subject they choose. The monument also includes a podium where individuals can address both planned and impromptu public gatherings. The Chalkboard & Podium monument has become a venue of choice for political rallies and demonstrations in the city. It was commended as an inherently dynamic and flexible place that encourages self-expression and community involvement. |
