| Title: | Hunts Point Riverside Park |
| Overview: | Hunts Point Riverside Park was recognized by the Bruner Foundation as a significant grassroots effort that created the first new public park in Hunts Point in many years. The Park has made a strong statement on the importance of creating recreational opportunities on the Bronx River. In addition, the Park was commended for its transformation of a degraded industrial area into a natural retreat for family recreation, while also creating a venue for community meetings and youth programs in a highly urbanized environment. The Hunts Point Riverside Park is a model for ongoing river reclamation efforts that mark the first stage of development in a fully developed South Bronx Greenway, that will connect communities to each other and to waterways, and that will eventually provide bike connections to Manhattan and other boroughs. |
