| Title: | St. Joseph Rebuild Center |
| Overview: | The St. Joseph Rebuild Center, a day center for the homeless, was cited by the Bruner Award Committee as an outstanding example of urban place-making, established through the collaboration of several community groups. The Center is a "one stop shop" that offers a variety of services to the homeless people of New Orleans, including food distribution, personal hygiene, job placement, and health services. The Center provides these services in a dignified manner, and in an environment that is loved and cared for by its clients. The Committee noted that St. Joseph Rebuild Center has responded to the national problem of homelessness with a structure combining six FEMA trailers that is elegant and inexpensive, and with programs with a proven success record. |
