Black Student Union Periodical Collection

The Black Student Union (BSU) at UB was founded in 1967. Twelve periodical publications have been issued by the BSU and are the primary record of the activities and history of the organization. Most of the material was issued on newsprint, and the material is now extremely fragile as a result of heavy use.

Archacki Cartoon Collection

Henryk Archacki, 1907-1988, a Polish immigrant, journalist and well-known graphic artist, drew weekly cartoons for Polish-language newspapers for over 20 years. With his wife, he researched current events, sports, literature, and historical curiosities, and presented them in these factoid cartoons, with a strong flavor of pride in being Polish. This syndicated series was entitled “Czy wiecie, że…” (“Do you know that…”).

It includes such items as British music auction catalogs from the early 19th century, a unique manuscript condensed score of Jean Baptiste Lully's opera, Cadmus et Hermione, and two music theory treatises by Giacomo Tritto.
North American New Music Festival Archive Photographs

The North American New Music Festival was founded in 1983 by Yvar Mikhashoff and Jan Williams, faculty members of the University at Buffalo Music Department and dedicated proponents of contemporary and avant-garde art music. The 135 images in the archive have been digitized to create this separate, online image collection. The original photographs include publicity stills submitted by participating musicians as well as photographs of musicians in rehearsal or performance.
Pamela Gearhart Collection of Photographs

The collection contains 30 photographs from the personal collection of violinist and conductor, Pamela Gearhart. She was a member of the music faculty at the University at Buffalo 1957-1975, teaching violin, chamber music performance, and conducting the university's orchestra.
