This collection is comprised of the portraits included in Volumes I and II of History of the City of Buffalo and Erie County, with illustrations and biographical sketches of some of its prominent men and pioneers. The original work was edited by H. Perry Smith, and the majority of the portraits were engraved by either A. Little of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania or the firm H.B. Hall & Sons. There were 52 portraits included in Volume I, which concerns Erie County, and 88 portraits included in Volume II, which concerns the City of Buffalo.
